Lila Jane

I have been doing a bunch of posts on the 30 day challenge and other stuff like that and realized that I haven't really updated y'all on my sweet little baby.

Lila Jane is 6 days away from being 7 months old. I honestly can't believe it. She is growing up so fast and it's just amazing. She is an awesome sitter. This girl has the best posture and I have no idea where she gets it. I'm a sloucher, always have been. No matter how much I try to sit up straight, 5 minutes will go by and I realize I'm slouching again. Neil probably isn't as bad as I am, but he's no rock star like Miss Lila.

For the last month or so, she has been taking "big girl" baths. She loves them. I'm so thankful that this girl loves bath time. Sometimes she's enjoying so much, I hate to take her out. She's got her little bath toys and she just splashes and talks to them the whole time. Getting her out of the bath and ready for bed is a different story. It really ticks her off to get out so we better have the bottle ready as soon as she gets her jammies on. :)

I've been trying to get her to eat meat. I baked some chicken the other day and tried it out. She gagged and gagged and gagged. It was awful. The past couple nights, I've mixed them with sweet potatoes or carrots, even apples...nada. I'm thinking it's a texture thing so I'm going to wait a couple more weeks and see if she will welcome the meat then. She does, however, like to eat itty bitty pieces of chicken off our forks. She must think she's really something since it's coming off of our plates. I'll pick a little piece out of the middle of the grilled chicken that Neil makes and she loves it. I'm very careful to make sure that there's no seasoning or salt on these pieces. She really doesn't eat enough of it to matter though. I'm thinking that next time we grill, we'll make a plain Jane piece for her and see how that works out. :)

Lila loves being outside. I'm very pleased with this. I told Neil that we're gonna be fighting her to come inside at night to get ready for bed...and that's perfectly fine with me. I'd rather fight her to come inside from playing than fight her to get off the couch from a video game or TV marathon. We go on walks now just about every day since it's gotten warm. She enjoys it, just about as much as I do.

As of right now, the paci is already beginning to be used less and less. I'm not a huge fan of pacis after a certain age, but I never thought we'd get rid of it before she was 1. She usually takes it when she's trying to go to sleep, but for the most part, she's a pretty mild mannered baby. She's happy a lot and truly doesn't need it. I'm getting happy about this, but again sad that my baby is already growing up. I'm sure she'll throw us for a loop in a few weeks!

No teeth yet, no crawling yet, and no pulling herself up yet. These are the next few things we're waiting for. Stay tuned, because I'm sure she'll have chompers and be mobile in no time.

Day 16-Dream house
In the country with lots of land, yet with some neighbors close enough for Lila and future children to play with. I like big open floor plans when it comes to houses. Lots of windows for natural light to come through and a kitchen out of this world. I am really beginning to like to cook different things and I can only imagine how cool it would be to prepare/cook a meal in an awesome kitchen. I don't think it needs to be huge. I don't want a lot of extra rooms that are never used. i.e. Enough bedrooms and bathrooms to go around plus perhaps a guest room. I want a bathroom that is relaxing and soothing. Somewhat like an oasis where I can go after a long day and just chill!

I tried to find a couple pictures, but it's all in my mind and I can't find exactly what I want. I kinda like this kitchen, but would definitely be making some changes!

Day 17-Something you're looking forward to
It's kinda bittersweet because I'm not looking forward to my little baby getting bigger, but I so look forward to those times where we can go shopping together or get a pedicure together. I can't wait to spend time with her...as much time as possible.

Day 18-Something you regret
Looking back, I really don't regret much in my life. God has a plan for me and who am I to tell him any different? Maybe the things I think I should've done are purposefully leading me in some other direction that only He knows. I will say that I do kinda regret getting my degree in marketing. I should've just faced the fact that I wanted to be a teacher and gotten it over with. :) That being said, I love my job. I couldn't ask for anything more.

#13 - Goals
I have several goals in my life. The main goal I have is to be a great wife and mother. I also have goals to continue running marathons, although I may have to start back with a half! Neil and I have goals to get to our dream careers. This will take us to where we want to live. Yes, family, we do want to eventually make the move south to be closer to the beach. And YES, we are taking Lila with us!

#14 - A Picture I Love
We took this picture when we were first dating. It's fun to think back and remember this stuff. We had so much fun that weekend! I did a little photoshop on it to make it look super cool. I loved the outcome! It's fun to pull these pics out of the archive.

#15 - Bible Verse
Sing to the Lord; praise the Lord! For he has delivered the life of the needy from the hands of evildoers. Jeremiah 20:13

Post #11 - Favorite TV Shows

ALL TIME FAVE - Saved by the Bell

Other favorites include:
  • American Idol
  • Private Practice
  • Bones
  • Biggest Loser
  • Ellen
  • Grey's Anatomy (although, I have to admit, it's really dropping off my list)
  • House Hunters
  • Any kind of DIY show
I really don't have as much time as usual for my shows, so I've had to drop a couple off my list, but I still have these favorites!!

Lila is loving the nicer weather. She loves to be outside and soak up the goodness. I told Neil that we'll probably be fighting with her to come inside this summer. That's fine with me! I'd rather her want to being playing outside and burning energy than inside wanting to watch TV or play video games all the time.

She is just getting so big now. Every day, she is more and more interested in what we're doing. Last night she kept watching us eat so finally I just ripped of a little bitty piece of my grilled chicken and gave it to her on my fork. She loved it. She wouldn't eat the chicken I pureed for her the other day, but she loves this. Of course she didn't eat a whole lot, but she kept wanting more, so we kept giving it to her. She's not eating very well right now anyway and I think it's because she's really trying to get her teeth in. She completely freaks out when the spoon comes near her. I'm hoping this passes quickly.

She kept grabbing my toes the other night and looking at them like, "mom, those are pretty". So we got the polish out and did hers. She looks like she's even older now! It wasn't a great job since I was having to hold her, hold the polish, keep her toes still, and keep her hands out of the polish. We're going to have Aunt Cal do them tomorrow. She's already getting pampered. I can't wait until we can go get pedicures together one day! So much fun!

I just wanted to share this as well. She got her 6 month pictures taken a couple weeks ago. This is one of my faves that I've seen so far. The one at the top of my blog is a fave too!
